There is a hotel in the area that I am photographing once the renovations are complete. To say this hotel is going to be amazing is an understatement. This place will be one of the finest hotels in the region.
The problem is, they didn’t have any photos to show clients yet. So it has been all hands on deck to get one room ready so that I could come in and photograph it for their clients.
Problem was, there was no electricity in the room, let alone working lights. The room looked stunning, but incomplete. Wires and cables were hanging from the ceilings and walls and finishing touches that will come later weren’t in place.
So, with a couple of (long) extension leads, five builder’s halogen lights and two remote flashes, I set out to try to get something that could work.
Tripod set up so I could get 4 second long exposures, I grabbed some images to take home to work on in post processing.
The image here is what the client ended up receiving. I wish I had snapped some behind the scenes shots to show you what wasn’t included in the photos: The miles of cables everywhere, assistants holding flashes ‘just so’, builder’s lights hiding behind furniture etc…
This place is going to be great and I can’t wait to get back in there once it is complete. With the lighting finished (the guy who did the lighting for the 2012 London Olympics is reported to be designing the lighting here), this place will shine.
Hahahaha....Super funny pun!
