I love being a photographer. I get to photograph some amazing and interesting subjects. I get to photograph athletes at the top of their game, chalets at the top end of the property ladder, and brides and grooms on the happiest day of their lives. I also love the mountains and all the varied activities that comes with living in such overwhelming scenery. So when I was asked if I wanted to do a snowboard wedding, the answer was easy.
So I found myself with the great pleasure of spending a couple days with Charlie and Luke. A couple who, like me, love this corner of the world. They also love snowboarding and they love it enough to integrate it into their biggest day. The outcome: A day like no other!
They were staying at the beautiful Farmhouse - Mas de la Coutettaz - here in Morzine. After capturing the morning's preparations, we headed out to the Pleney lift station. From there we made our way across to the Pointe de Nyon. Everywhere we went, Charlie was treated as the superstar she was. Calls of "Felicitations!" filled the air as we journied through the mountains.
We were blessed with beautiful weather, great company and breath-taking scenery. Charlie's father had secretly learned to snowboard so he could surprise her by snowboarding beside her to the ceremony. Father of the Year!
The ceremony was held in a quiet corner of Nyon's plateau. With a stunning backdrop, the two exchanged vows and rings enclosed in a circle of close friends and family. Kay from Always Number One did a fantastic job as always of the proceedings and it was Job Done!
We headed out for a few runs of the mountain with an amazing sunset lighting our way back down to the town for drinks and dinner.
All in all, it was an amazing day. One I will remember for a very long time as one of the best!
Thank you Charlie and Luke for allowing me to be a part of your monumental day, I look forward to your next visit to Morzine so we can go for a board together!
