Spring time here in the alpes can be an unpredictable weather experience, but luck was certainly on our side with amazing days most of the week.
Some of the best riders from the UK scene were out here for the week, so we headed out to find some fun slushy spots to session and shoot. We spent a fun hour or so in the Arare board park while we waited for the sun to soften the snow a bit.
From there we found a couple fun spots. One was a boulder gap which got some sparks flying from tail taps, rock rides and big airs.
And the other was a fun quarter pipe, perfect for hand plants. We originally looked at gapping this ravine, but decided that riding would be more fun than building a wedge...
We even had a foot of fresh snow fall overnight before the big Arare Hip Jam. After a few powder runs, people turned up to some awesome aerial displays thrown down on this hip. The temperatures were souring as much as the competitors.
Tommy Bowers even managed to shame some of the competitors by going huge on his home made snow skate. Insane!
The week finished off with a DJ party held in Cafe Chaud. Dom Harrington (the lad in red hoodie above) and Tommy Bowers (snow skate boy) were treating the crowd to some epic mixes. Way too much tequila was consumed and the rest of the evening is blank.
All in all, it was a fantastic week to round off the end of the season. There's still a week left of winter 2015/16, but for most, the end of this Treeline/The Snowboard Asylum week marked the grande finale.
Awesome finish to an awesome season.
